The Session with Sunday Boling, “Give Yourself Permission”

Sunday Boling Kennedy’s class will focus on high-stakes scenes and how to “Give Yourself Permission” to go there emotionally and sometimes physically. Whether auditioning for a comedy, a drama, an action film, or a horror film – the goal is to help each actor tap into their creativity, uniqueness, and depth to create a memorable and grounded audition. And we will have fun letting go during the audition process! Sunday will direct students with high-stakes or high-emotion material and discuss audition tips and tricks from her more than 20 years of experience as a casting director. Students will leave emboldened and ready to tackle tough material.

The Session with Mark Teschner, CSA, “The Art of Impactful Auditions”

Mark Teschner’s course offers an in-depth, hands-on approach to character preparation and audition skills. The goal is to help each actor make strong choices in their work, creating impactful auditions. Whether auditioning for contract roles, recurring roles, or day players – the goal is to empower each actor to bring their uniqueness and authenticity to the work. Mark will guide students through script and character analysis, helping them uncover key elements that help shape memorable performances. Participants will work on understanding character motivations and making solid, dynamic choices that stand out in auditions. Through hands-on scene work, students will learn to deliver nuanced, grounded performances that capture the attention of casting directors, directors, and producers. Mark will also offer insights into the unique challenges and expectations of casting, ensuring that each student leaves with practical tools to excel as an actor with a better understanding of the casting process.

Mark Teschner

Casting Director

Mark Teschner, CSA, a native New Yorker, has been the Casting Director for ABC Daytime’s “General Hospital” since 1989. Renowned for his exceptional eye for talent, Rolling Stone calls him “an actor’s casting director,” and TV Guide praises his “unparalleled track record for finding top new talent.”

Teschner has won eleven Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Achievement in Casting” and eight additional nominations. He is also a seven-time recipient of the prestigious Artios Award from the Casting Society of America, with sixteen additional nominations.

Teschner has served as vice president of the Casting Society of America and as a Governor of the Television Academy. This year, he was inducted into the “Silver Circle” at the Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences.

Sunday Boling

Casting Director

Sunday Boling is an award-winning casting director and partner at Morman Boling Casting. She began her career at 20th Century Fox as an assistant to Christian Kaplan, working on big budget studio features, went onto work with Debi Manwiller, Eyde Belasco, Sheila Jaffe and Francine Maisler and then launched her own company in 2004 with Meg Morman. She has cast over 100 films, including Waitress, Hello, My Name is Doris, Aporia, The Ballad of Lefty Brown, The Hyperions, Unlovable, and Hard Luck Love Song. TV and streaming credits include: Sneakerheads, Ish Hashuv Meod, The Dead Girls Detective Agency, In the Vault and Relationship Status. She has also cast numerous award-winning narrative podcasts – a few select credits include: Blackout, Ad Lucem, 13 Days of Halloween S2 and S3, Last Known Position and Ronstadt. She has been nominated for 11 Artios Awards for excellence in casting and served on the board of the Casting Society for four years. She is currently the secretary for Casting Society Cares.
